It is saddening to hear that acknowledged social worker Prabhaben Shah is no more. According to the reports, Prabhaben Shah died on Wednesday, 18th January 2023. She was a Padma Shri awardee from the Union territory of Daman and Diu, Dadra, and Nagar Haveli. Reportedly, the late social worker breathed her last at the age of 92. How Prabhaben Shah Died?
As she had turned 92, it is obvious that she must have age-related ailments. Talking about her cause of death, Prabhaben Shah passed away after suffering heart and breathing ailments. In addition, Shah’s daughter Varsha Shah also asserted that her mother was struggling with heart-related health issues.
Varsha also stated that on Wednesday morning her mother was admitted to a government hospital in Daman where Dr. Tapan and his team were giving her medical treatment but Prabhaben did not show improvement.
Prabhaben Shah Obituary and Funeral
Reportedly, family members and relatives will pay final respect to the late social worker on Thursday afternoon in Daman. Varsha Shah said that all their family relatives and friends will reach Daman by Thursday, thus they have kept her mother’s corpse in the morgue.
As per the family statement, the final rites for Prabhaben Shah will start from their residence located in Moti Daman and will finish in Nani Daman after covering a distance of 5 kilometers.
“Due to her old age and heart complications she did not respond to the treatment and Dr Tapan and his team at the government hospital in Daman declared her dead in the late afternoon. We have planned to carry out final rites on Thursday morning and her body will be taken from our house in Moti Daman to Nani Daman covering a distance of around 5 kilometers. We have presently kept her body in the morgue in the government hospital. All our relatives from Gujarat and Mumbai will reach Daman by Thursday morning” Varsha Shah told Indian Express
Prabhaben Shah’s death news came after 15 years of her husband Sobhag Shah’s death news. She will be missed by her two daughters Kiran Shah and Varsha Shah, and a son Sanjay Shah. Sanjay is settled in the United States.
Who Was Prabhaben Shah?
She was from Bardoli, Surat where she was born in 1930. In 1963, she settled in Daman. Prabhaben was a follower of Gandhian ideology and she was deeply attached to Swaraj Ashram.

The late social worker was honored with the fourth-highest civilian award last year. In January 2022, she received Padma Shri in the social work category from President Ramnath Kovind.
