He passed away this Wednesday, the 31st of May 2023. Dr. Garland Owensby passed away at the age of 55 leaving behind his wonderful loved one who truly loved him. Dr Owensby was not only a good educator but also a good human being and a dear friend to many. He possessed exceptional qualities that helped him to impact other lives. He touched so many hearts through his mesmerized personality.

Garland Owensby began his professor career in 1998 when he joined Southwestern, he also served as Coordinator and Youth and Student Ministries. His main focus was on young individuals for a lifelong journey in youth ministry. Furthermore in life, Garland and his spouse have been blessed with three kids Austin, Bryson and Logan.
Before the Southwestern Garland served as a children’s and adolescent evangelist in EI Salvador, Central America. As a youth pastor at First Assembly of God in Ocala, Florida, he served significantly.
Garland Owensby earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministries from Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God located in Lakeland, Florida. Later, through his dedication he acquired a Master of Science in Practical Theology and a Master of Art in Bible & Theology. Finally, he nailed a Docter of Education Ministries from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. His doctoral dissertation helped him to nurture students spiritually and mentally. Alongside, Garland Owensby frequently delivered speeches at churches, youth organizations, training sessions and youth camps etc. He was known for his preaching style which brought charisma and love endlessly.
