Spencer “Aiden” Langston, a 17-year-old student from Herriman High School in Utah, tragically lost his life in a car accident on May 30, 2024, just hours before he was scheduled to graduate. The sudden and unexpected nature of his passing has left his family, friends, and the community in deep sorrow.

Who Was Aiden Langston Utah?

Aiden was eagerly anticipating the start of his Navy career, which was set to begin on June 25, 2024. His obituary on Legacy.com noted, “Aiden became interested in serving in the military in his early teenage years and enlisted in the Navy as soon as he turned 17. He was excited to report for basic training on June 25, 2024. He was proud to serve his country and prove to his family and loved ones that he would have a successful military career.”

In the wake of his death, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist with his funeral costs. The page describes Langston as a “wonderful friend, a loving son, a protective brother.” It reads, “Aiden Langston was tragically taken from his family and friends on what was supposed to be his graduation day. This boy was the human embodiment of sunshine. He was one of the sweetest souls I’ve ever met. He made everyone laugh, always challenged those around him, worked hard, and played even harder. He had plans to ship out and begin his life in the Navy in just a few weeks time.”

Aiden was born on July 11, 2006, to Gary and Kristen Langston in Murray, Utah. From a young age, he was known for his curiosity and creativity, spending hours with Legos, drawing, reading, and engaging in sports. His love for animals, particularly cats, was a significant part of his personality. Aiden was also deeply protective of his older sister and was always ready to help his parents.

At Herriman High School, Aiden was a loyal friend, known for his deep intellect and love for cars. His passion for vehicles led him to work at Jiffy Lube, where he quickly mastered car maintenance and repairs. He had a knack for modifying cars, always seeking to make them better and faster. His enthusiasm for life extended to sports, especially rugby, where he was known for his fearless tackles.

Aiden shared a close bond with his mother, enjoying long talks about life, friends, and future plans. He also loved playing family games, watching horror movies, and challenging himself with physical dares. His excitement for life was often expressed through his loud, happy presence.

His commitment to joining the Navy was a testament to his dedication and sense of adventure. Aiden aspired to become an underwater welder and explore the world, driven by his work ethic and loyalty.

Aiden is survived by his father Gary Langston (Jen) and mother Kristen Langston (Christy), his sister Sydney Langston, and his step-siblings Dylan Rodabough (Nicole), Dallas Rodabough (Lexie), Tyler Rodabough, Riley Heyer-Wilkinson, and Easton Heyer-Wilkinson. His grandparents Susan Langston and Don and Linda Lyster, along with many friends, also mourn his loss.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 14172 South Emmaline Drive, Herriman, Utah. A viewing will take place on Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary – Riverton, and again on Saturday morning from 9:30 am until the service. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park South Valley Cemetery.

For those unable to attend in person, the funeral will be streamed via Zoom, allowing friends and family to join in honoring Aiden’s life and legacy.
