In a revealing interview, Mia Winward, the 19-year-old daughter of former Emmerdale star Sammy Winward, disclosed that her decision to join OnlyFans earlier this year has led to a significant fallout with her family. The young model, now estranged from her mother, has been candid about the impact of her career choice on her personal relationships.

Sammy Winward, best known for her portrayal of Katie Sugden on the popular ITV soap Emmerdale from 2001 to 2015, has not spoken to her daughter since a heated argument months ago. Mia, whose father is former Blackburn footballer Daniel Dunn, was born shortly after the couple separated in 2005.
In an interview with The Sun, Mia shared, “She said some pretty mean things when we did last speak, it was awful. But I absolutely love my mum, I love all of my family but none of them speak to me now.”
Despite the strained relations, Mia expressed understanding of her family’s reservations about her career on OnlyFans, a subscription-based platform primarily used by s*x workers. She remains hopeful that their relationship can be mended in the future. “I think they’re just being protective of me. It’s not been nice and some of the conversations we had before we stopped talking weren’t great,” she said. “But I will always love and appreciate them. I hope that one day we can rebuild our relationship and move on.”
Mia has found confidence and financial success on OnlyFans, earning around £30,000 a month by working three days a week. She describes the platform as empowering, stating, “I feel so empowered on OnlyFans. I am my own boss and I’m confident in myself and what I’m doing.”
Despite her success, Mia plans to transition from OnlyFans to a career in property. “I won’t be doing OnlyFans forever. It is a great stepping stone into the property business,” she explained.
Mia’s career shift comes after she initially intended to follow in her mother’s footsteps in acting. During a joint appearance on Loose Women in 2021, Mia expressed her desire to land an acting role similar to her mother’s on Emmerdale. However, after working as a makeup artist and learning about the earning potential on OnlyFans from friends, Mia decided to pivot her career.
Sammy Winward, who left Emmerdale in 2015 to become a teacher, recently returned to television with a role in ITV’s The Long Shadow, a drama about the manhunt for serial killer Peter Sutcliffe. She has previously spoken about the close bond she shared with Mia due to their small age gap, saying in 2021, “We just feel like best mates really. Obviously, there is the mother and daughter relationship but we’re more like best mates.”
However, this close relationship has deteriorated, with Mia now estranged from both her mother and father, David Dunn. Despite the family discord, Mia remains optimistic about her future and determined to make her mark in the property industry.
As Mia continues to navigate her career and personal life, the hope remains that time will heal the rift between her and her family, allowing them to reconcile and move forward together.
