The Wren High School community is rallying in support of Isaac Wigington, a senior varsity football player, who was involved in a serious car accident. Isaac, known for his determination on and off the field, is now in critical condition, with his family and community praying for a miracle.
Isaac Wigington Car Accident
The accident occurred late on a Friday evening, when Isaac’s vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree. Emergency personnel responded swiftly, but Isaac sustained severe injuries and remains in critical condition. His parents, Paul and Angie, have been informed by his doctors that the next 24 to 48 hours will be crucial in determining his recovery.
Currently, Isaac is on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) to support his heart and lungs. Though his heart remains weak, his valves are functioning well, and there’s no fluid buildup on his heart. Most encouragingly, Isaac has shown some movement in his arms, a hopeful sign that his body is fighting to recover. Doctors have also reported low pressure on his brain and good blood flow, though they continue to monitor his neurological activity closely.
The Wren community is coming together to support Isaac and his family, with a special call for prayers for decreased swelling, strong organ function, and signs of neurological recovery. Students are being encouraged to wear blue and gold, Wren High’s colors, in a show of solidarity and support for Isaac.
As the community waits for updates, the outpouring of love and prayers continues, with many holding onto faith that Isaac, a known fighter, will pull through this difficult time.
