On the day of the incident, Dulce, accompanied by her son, was attempting to capture a close-up memory of the iconic “La Emperatriz” locomotive, also known as Empress 2816. This historic locomotive, built by the Canadian Pacific Kansas City company, was on a monumental journey through Canada, the United States, and Mexico as part of the “Final Spike Team Tour,” a spectacle intended to celebrate the history of steam trains.
In a tragic turn of events, as Dulce focused on taking the selfie, she failed to gauge the proximity of the train. A protruding part of the locomotive struck her directly on the head, leading to fatal head trauma. Despite the immediate efforts of a bystander to assist her, Dulce succumbed to her injuries instantly.
Following the tragic incident, Dulce’s wake was held on Wednesday, June 5, at 3:00 p.m., and her funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvario church in Huichapan. The community has been left in mourning, and her loved ones have shared their grief and tributes on social media.
